5 'Must Read Books' that will inspire you to achieve what you want to achieve in 2026

Updated: Feb 2

At Skyline Co our Why Statement reads: to bridge the gap between big business strategies and small business realities so that SMEs can thrive with confidence, dream bigger, and leave a lasting impact. This isn’t just a flashy motivational line we slapped on our website. It drives everything we do. It acts as a strategic filter that guides our decisions, our strategy, and the way we show up for our clients every single day. Pretty powerful stuff, hey? (We think so.)

Let’s break it down for a moment and remove our contribution. “To bridge the gap between big business strategies and small business realities.” That’s what we do for our clients. The response to that? “To thrive with confidence and dream bigger.” And the outcome of that confidence and ambition? Leaving a lasting impact. That’s the outcome we aim to create when we work hand-in-hand with our clients to foster an environment where confidence grows, thinking expands, and long-term impact becomes possible.

But not everyone reading this is our client… yet.

If you believe what we believe: If you want to leave a lasting impact through your business, your career, or your life then the number one focus has to be to have the right mindset. A mindset that doesn’t limit you. A mindset that allows you to pursue outcomes bigger than what feels comfortable right now. Everyone’s path looks different, but one of the most effective ways to shape that mindset is through feeling inspired. Learning from mentors, thinkers, and leaders who’ve already walked the road. Another key is riding a wave of momentum through continuous improvement. And one tool that consistently works for us? Reading.

So in this month’s post, we’ve compiled five must-read books to help you achieve what you want to achieve in 2026. One month has already elapsed, are you 1/12 closer to your goals yet? If not, these five books are a good place to start.

  1. The Infinite Game (Simon Sinek)

The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek is compelling read cover to cover. It challenges the idea that life and business is about winning. Instead, it reframes business and life as an ongoing journey with no finish line, where the goal is to keep playing, improving and building something that lasts (The Infinite Game).

  1. Read Your Mind (Oz Pearlman)

Drawing from his experience as the world's greatest mentalist, Oz Pearlman dives into the power of reading people and outlines easy to learn habits that will drastically improve your ability to influence people. One of our favourite parts is where Oz teaches you a sure-fire way to learn how to say the alphabet backwards (spoiler: it works!)

  1. The Diary of a CEO (Stephen Bartlett)

This one is special for us; it truly inspired us on our journey. Steve is the host of The Diary of a CEO podcast. Steve Co-Founded Social Chain at 21 years old and then took the company public as CEO. In 2019 he resigned to start one of the most successful podcasts in history. He is an investor on Dragon's Den (The British Shark Tank) and today has a stake in hundreds of companies that align with his own personal values. In this book he presents his 33 Laws for Business and Life and this book is absolutely a 'Must-Read'.

  1. The Psychology of Money (Morgan Housel)

It is hard to feel inspired when under financial pressure. Morgan Housel explores how achieving financial freedom is driven less by intelligence and knowledge, and more by behaviour. We had to include this book in our list as it had a profound impact on our mindset towards money. This book will set you on a long-term journey to a financially secure future.

  1. Start With Why (Simon Sinek)

In 2009, Simon Sinek ignited a movement to help people find a greater sense of purpose at work and added a new word to the lexicon of business- WHY. People and companies now regularly talk about their WHY. Sinek's videos have been seen by over a billion people around the world, including more than 65 million who've watched his TED Talk based on Start with Why. This book and its companion (Find Your Why) will help you find the higher purpose behind what drives you.

You don’t need to read these books in any particular order. Just commit to reading them at a steady pace and one book a month. That’s not too much to ask, right? Some are only 200-ish pages. Do that, and you’ll unlock the power of an inspired mind during the final six months of 2026, one that’s more confident, more ambitious, and better equipped to leave a lasting impact.

To make it even easier, we’ve included to buttons to purchase each book above. Most are even under $20 and will ship the next day with Amazon! Because growth doesn’t happen by accident, it happens when intention meets action. And sometimes, it starts with turning the first page.

If you happen to finish the above books early, here are some other highly recommended books we could not fit in our top 5:

If these books inspire you, please follow our blog. We would love to hear about the lasting impact you leave, resulting from dreaming bigger and thriving with confidence.
